Shalvat Chayim (“Peaceful Life”) is a licensed non–profit that runs group homes located in several hostels around Jerusalem, Israel. Opened in 1997, the Shalvat Haim’s group homes offer round-the-clock care in an Orthodox Jewish atmosphere to adult males aged approximately 17-55 who have been diagnosed with chronic mental illnesses (M.I.) such as Schizophrenia, Autism, Anxiety Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Developmental Disorders, the effects of long-term drug usage, and severe Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder following military service in Israel’s wars. It also serves individuals with M.I. from abroad, including England, USA, Canada and Belgium. Shalvat Haim’s mission is to enhance the dignity and quality of life of Jewish individuals with M.I., by providing them with the services needed to live a positive life as contributing members of the community.
